Fighting Breast Cancer with Chiropractic Care

Fighting Breast Cancer with Chiropractic Care

Breast cancer turns your world upside down, but our goal is that in this blog post, you’ll find hope and relief in our words regarding chiropractic care and symptom relief.

Research has been conducted lately on chiropractic therapy in women with breast cancer, and the results are powerful. Studies have shown that chiropractic therapy can help relieve headaches, back, and joint pain.

Talk to your doctor before trying chiropractic therapy. If you have a bleeding issue, if you are on anticoagulants, or if you suffer from osteoporosis, you’ll want to talk to your doctor and Dr. Kordonowy before starting chiropractic therapy. It is also important to tell Dr. K about any breast cancer treatments you have had in the past so he can be extra careful if adjusting areas near where you’ve had surgery.

With that said, let’s see what the research shows regarding breast cancer and chiropractic treatment.

In a study reported by the Journal of Canadian Chiropractic Association, the case of a 65-year-old woman with a history of breast cancer is told. After doctors were able to rule out metastasis, she began a rigorous treatment of manual therapies and exercises. Her pain began to lessen, but over time, she became aware of a certain “pressure” in her head – which turned out to be metastasis to the brain and spine. Chiropractic care was able to increase this pain awareness. Additionally, she responded better to chiropractic care than pain medication or other therapies.

In another study reported in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, out of 453 cancer patients, 83.3% had tried at least one complementary alternative medicine (CAM), like chiropractic, reporting a better quality of life after these treatments.

Patients with advanced levels of cancer and/or malignancy may still be treated through spinal manipulation, soft tissue treatments, and rehabilitative exercises. But as always, the most important element is communication with your chiropractor first.

Chiropractic care has also helped these women to reduce or stop taking opioids for pain management, thus improving their quality of life.

If you suffer from breast cancer or another type of cancer and are ready to try a natural solution, why not give Dr. K a try?

Dr. Kordonowy, who has served as President of the North Carolina Chiropractic Association and has been voted Chiropractor of the Year, has over 33 years of experience in treating patients and helping them restore their health and achieve a better life.
